MysteryDomainSCAM.com – Far From A Revolution

January 2, 2009

April 10th will be the day that the MysteryDomainAuction ENDS. It's only been half a day since it's launch but I think I understand exactly why John Motson (http://dnxpert.com) needs lots of TIME for his 'mystery' to unfold.

In fact, MysteryDomainAuction.com is NOT even an auction at all. What it is though is a shady advertising model that needs at least 50 days to really work; ideally 100 days to sucker as many people as possible out of a few bucks. Pretty crafty. Really... I tried it out this morning to see what it was all about. Seemed simple enough. No sign up needed (Although he is collecting all of our e-mails) and not a lot of friction to participate. I Got in at 57cents (along with 3 other 'bidders' at 57 cents??) To say the least, I won't be 'pre-paying' on any more 'bids.'

Times are only gonna get tougher people. Put your time, attention and money into the things that are most important. Like DEVELOPING your best domain names and driving targeted traffic to meaningful, relative, quality content. Oh, and all those drunken registrations - drop 'em! We're all guilty of regging some pretty ridiculous domains, and we would all be wise to see them for what they really are: The price we pay to learn how this game works. I guess you could try to pawn them off on some noobs in the forums, although I wouldn't recommend it.

Focus on what is REAL. Don't fall for every new scheme out there. Believe me, people are about to start going into desperate mode, and that brings along with it desperate measures. Some people are going to do anything to try and maintain their current lifestyle and habits despite the economical disaster now shoving itself ashore.

John when you read this, just take it for what it is. Simply one man's opinion about a website you built. I hope you take it constructively and see that we're all in this together and we all want to create passive revenue streams and build projects that are truly going to 'revolutionize' the way the world works.

You seem like a sharp guy with a lot of drive to succeed, but trying to fund the price of a TRAFFIC ticket is not worth tarnishing your reputation in this small, but tightly nit community. Besides, information changes so fast these days that overpriced domain conferences are quickly becoming a thing of the past. The 'domaining' industry is becoming a 'developing' industry and the successful web entrepreneurs of the future will all have one thing in common, they got there by doing the right thing.

If you were to tweak just a few things on the platform that you built for MysteryDomainAuction.com you would actually be able to build a meaningful site that could bring a lot of value to our industry.

For starters, the sooner you reveal what the domain name is that people are allegedly 'bidding' on, the sooner your project will regain credibility in my eyes.

Secondly, change the dating parameters that your 'auction' is triggered to end under. Meaning instead of waiting 2 weeks after the last bid is received to end the 'auction' or 100 days to true conclusion, make it able to end 3 days from the last bid received or 30 days to true conclusion.

I have a few more 'legitimate' ideas that you could implement which might have a profound effect on the success of your current development. You've got my e-mail address so don't hesitate to use it if you want to discuss further.

BTW, anyone seen this site? http://www.kingofthebill.com

Stay focused. Don't waste your time and money.
