The announcement of the sale of RunningShoes.com is making it’s way around the domain blogs yesterday and today. Cat5.com owner Chad Weinman emailed all the domain blogs yesterday notifying them of his purchase of the domain name for $700,000. Since the sale was so large, most of us waited for confirmation or proof of sale.
The sale marks the largest domain name sale to date for 2011. The sale contract specifies that it was for the domain name, good will and intangibles (such as associated contracts with vendors) only and not any of the other assets of the business like inventory, real estate, etc. RunningShoes.com is an ecommerce website which, as one would suspect, sells running shoes.
